Pre Marriage Counseling Requirements

According to Section 741.0305(1) and (4) of the Florida Statutes, premarital counseling can only be completed by an individual that meets certain criteria:

  • A mental health counselor licensed under chapter 491
  • A psychologist licensed under chapter 490
  • A clinical social worker licensed under chapter 491
  • A marriage and family therapist licensed under chapter 491
  • A representative of a religious institution recognized under s. 496.404(19), if the representative has relevant training

She has over 20 years of professional experience in providing mental health services, and has specialized in domestic violence, batterer's intervention, conflict negotiation, and anger management. She enjoys her family, which includes a happy and long-term marriage of over 30 years with her college sweetheart and their three children. She is "adjusting her sails" to incorporate an expansion in her family with the recent joyful addition of a new daughter-in-law.
